The official website of the Federal Air Transport Agency of Russia (Rosaviatsiya) has removed data regarding the number of aircraft in the fleets of Russian airlines. This change was explained by Rosaviatsiya to the local publication “Kommersant” as a necessity for optimizing the information published on the public internet site.
The agency noted that some carriers continue to publish their fleet numbers on their own websites. Among the major Russian airlines, only S7 Airlines has so far hidden this information from its website. According to Flightradar24, S7 Airlines has 104 aircraft, while Rosaviatsiya’s data from March indicated 100.
Other Russian carriers are still disclosing this information. The Aeroflot Group has 349 aircraft in its fleet, Ural Airlines has 52, and Utair has 59.
In May, Sergey Chemezov, head of the state corporation Rostec, mentioned that the mass withdrawal of aircraft from leading global manufacturers from the fleets of Russian airlines would begin in 2030, “as there will be limited opportunities for repairs by then.”
Sources cited by the publication believe that the actual reduction of the aircraft fleet of Russian carriers will start by 2026 or even earlier.
