Wizz Air Expands Naples Base with New Routes and Second A321neo Aircraft

Wizz Air is expanding its footprint in Italy with the addition of three new routes from Naples, powered by a second Airbus A321neo joining its Campania base in the winter 2025 season. This move will increase weekly flights from Naples and Salerno to 45 and bring more affordable travel options to southern Italy.

The new routes will connect Naples to Brașov in Romania and Tel Aviv in Israel with three flights per week, and to Chișinău in Moldova with four flights per week. In a further boost to its regional offering, Wizz Air will also extend its seasonal service to Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt into a year-round route.

These additions bring Wizz Air’s total from Naples to 11 routes, and combined with flights from nearby Salerno, the airline will offer 13 routes to eight countries from the Campania region.

The low-cost carrier’s expansion isn’t just about new destinations—it also means more jobs and economic growth. With the deployment of a second Airbus A321neo in Naples, over 50 direct jobs will be created within the airline, with another 300 local jobs expected in related sectors, including ground services, hospitality, and maintenance.

The new routes to Brașov and Chișinău are particularly noteworthy as they enhance connectivity between Italy and Eastern Europe, strengthening social and business links with Romania and Moldova—countries that have growing diaspora communities in Italy.

Wizz Air’s modern A321neo aircraft are known for their fuel efficiency and lower emissions, making this growth part of a broader sustainable strategy. The airline is also investing heavily in customer experience, with its €14 billion Customer First Compass initiative aimed at boosting reliability, service quality, and tech innovation over the next three years.

Passengers can already book flights on the new routes via Wizz Air’s website or mobile app. As the airline continues to grow, its impact on Italian aviation is becoming more visible—nearly 100 million passengers have flown Wizz Air to and from Italian airports since its launch, and in 2024, it operated 92,000 flights with a 99.5% completion rate, one of the best in the industry.

With these new developments, Wizz Air is making Naples and Campania even more accessible—while bringing the world a little closer to southern Italy.
