Turkmenistan Airlines is reinstating regular passenger flights to Russia, with routes from Ashgabat to both Moscow and Kazan set to resume on May 1, 2025. The announcement marks the airline’s return to the Russian market following a temporary suspension that began in late 2024.
According to the updated flight schedule, the Ashgabat–Moscow–Ashgabat route will operate twice a week, with departures scheduled for Mondays and Fridays. Meanwhile, flights connecting Ashgabat to Kazan will be available every Wednesday and Sunday. Tickets for both routes are already available for purchase through the airline’s official ticket offices.
The decision to resume flights comes after a pause in services that began in the aftermath of a tragic plane crash involving an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) aircraft in Aktau on December 25, 2024. Following that incident, Turkmenistan Airlines had halted its operations to Russia out of precaution.
Now, with enhanced safety protocols in place and the demand for regional connectivity on the rise, Turkmenistan Airlines is making its return to the Russian skies. The resumption of flights not only restores a key international connection for travelers in Turkmenistan but also reflects the airline’s ongoing commitment to rebuilding its international network.
This return to scheduled service may also signal broader efforts by Turkmenistan to re-engage with key international partners and support regional mobility in the post-suspension phase.
