Hotel Gabrielli Venice Reopens as 5-Star Luxury Retreat in July 2025

Hotel Gabrielli Venice is preparing to welcome guests once again, reopening on July 9, 2025, after an extensive renovation that brings timeless elegance back to one of the city’s most historic palazzos. Perched along the Riva degli Schiavoni and just steps from St. Mark’s Square, the restored hotel blends centuries of heritage with modern luxury, offering panoramic views of San Giorgio Maggiore and one of the largest private gardens in Venice.

Dating back to the 14th century, Hotel Gabrielli has long been a cultural landmark, once hosting renowned figures like Franz Kafka and Sigmund Freud. Still owned by the Perkhofer family—now in its fifth generation—the hotel is entering a new era under the management of Starhotels, joining their prestigious Collezione brand. The transformation respects the building’s historic soul while reimagining the space as a refined boutique retreat.

Led by designer Andrea Auletta, the interiors preserve key architectural elements such as marble cladding, parquet floors, and ornately beamed ceilings. Murano glass chandeliers by masters like Archimede Seguso and Pauly & C. were restored by local artisans, tying the hotel’s past to its present. This dedication to craftsmanship is part of Starhotels’ broader initiative, La Grande Bellezza – The Dream Factory, which promotes Italian artisanal excellence.

The renovation reduced the room count from 105 to just 66 to create larger, more luxurious accommodations. Each room is individually styled, with select suites offering lagoon views and custom furnishings. The highlight is the Presidential Suite, one of the island’s largest, which features a private rooftop altana terrace overlooking the lagoon.

The sixth-floor Gabrielli Rooftop Terrace spans over 150 square meters, offering 360-degree views of Venice and a stylish outdoor bar that echoes the building’s classic brick-red tones. Meanwhile, the 600-square-meter internal garden—one of the city’s largest—has been carefully restored using native flora, including two centuries-old olive trees, to offer a peaceful haven in the heart of Venice.

Guests will also enjoy the Gabrielli Spa, an intimate wellness space featuring a private spa area with a sauna, hammam, multisensory shower, and treatment room for two. The spa’s refined atmosphere is enhanced by restored beams and marble finishes, continuing the hotel’s balance of tradition and comfort.

Public spaces have been reimagined to foster connection, from a welcoming living room-style reception to the elegantly designed Caffè Gabrielli Restaurant and K Lounge Bar. These spaces transition with the time of day, from daylight reflections to warm evening candlelight effects, offering both ambiance and authenticity. A winter garden courtyard adds to the charm, with jute-inspired textures and lush greenery making it a cozy retreat all year long.

Hotel Gabrielli Venice will begin accepting reservations soon, offering a new way to experience the city—one that honors the past while embracing the refined tastes of modern travelers.
