Icelandair Launches Direct Flights from Nashville to Reykjavik

Icelandair has officially inaugurated a new non-stop seasonal service between Nashville (BNA) and Reykjavik (KEF), marking a major step in connecting Music City with Europe. The route, launched on May 12, will operate four times a week — on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays — through the end of October.

This makes Nashville the 18th North American destination served by Icelandair, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to expanding its transatlantic reach.

Route Details:

  • Flight Duration: Approx. 7 hours

  • Aircraft: Boeing 737 MAX

  • Frequency: 4x weekly (Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun)

Tomas Ingason, Chief Commercial Officer, Icelandair:

“This new connection links Music City to Iceland and nearly 40 destinations across Europe. We’re thrilled to expand our partnership with Southwest Airlines and welcome travelers onboard from across North America.”

Doug Kreulen, President and CEO, Nashville International Airport (BNA):

“The launch of Icelandair’s nonstop service marks a pivotal moment in expanding global connectivity. It opens doors for cultural exchange, business, and tourism that will benefit the entire Middle Tennessee region.”

This route not only makes Europe more accessible to travelers in the American South, but also positions Nashville as an emerging global gateway. With over 180 peak-day departures planned from Nashville this year via Southwest, passengers from nearly 90 U.S. cities will now have a convenient new bridge to Iceland and beyond.
