La Minerva Hotel by Orient Express Debuts in Rome

La Minerva Hotel by Orient Express has officially opened its doors in the heart of Rome, bringing a new level of ultra-luxury hospitality to the Eternal City. Located just steps from the Pantheon, the hotel is a breathtaking revival of a 17th-century palazzo that once hosted great minds like Stendhal and Herman Melville.

With 93 rooms and 36 suites, every space inside La Minerva is unique—thoughtfully designed to reflect the golden age of travel. Rich wooden details, vintage-inspired bedside trunks, and custom linens by Rivolta Carmignani give guests a taste of Orient Express glamour, now set in one of Europe’s most iconic cities. Each corridor and lounge echoes the elegance of a bygone era while embracing contemporary comfort.

Renowned artist-architect Hugo Toro led the restoration of the historic building. His vision honors Rome’s layered past with modern finesse. In every room, guests will find subtle nods to Italy’s timeless charm, including hand-painted ceilings that evoke the Roman sky. The Stendhal Suite, named after the famed French writer, is one of several that serve as soulful escapes from the bustling city beyond.

La Minerva also shines in its culinary offerings. The hotel is home to three standout dining venues. At its heart lies La Minerva Bar, an elegant space lit by natural sunlight through a soaring glass roof. The original marble statue of Minerva stands as a silent guardian, surrounded by ancient columns that glow softly throughout the day.

Come May 2025, Gigi Rigolatto will launch on the hotel’s rooftop, offering 360° views of Rome’s rooftops and famous monuments—from the Vittoriano to St. Peter’s Basilica. This all-day dining spot promises Riviera-inspired elegance and a vibrant atmosphere. Designed by Hugo Toro and curated by Rikas Hospitality Group, Gigi is all about celebrating la dolce vita with elevated flair.

Later this year, Mimi Kakushi, an award-winning concept from Dubai, will also open inside La Minerva. The restaurant transports diners to 1920s Osaka with its bold mix of Far Eastern flavors and Western jazz-age vibes.

For events and private gatherings, La Minerva offers five beautifully crafted venues, including the grand Olimpo Ballroom, decorated with marble sculptures representing the seasons and continents, and the intimate Alfieri Meeting Room, tucked beneath atmospheric vaulted ceilings.

Beyond its rooms and restaurants, La Minerva stands as a symbol of rebirth—uniting history, elegance, and modern hospitality. This debut marks Orient Express’s first-ever hotel, launching a new chapter for the legendary brand and its timeless connection to Rome.
