Sichuan Airlines is expanding its European presence with a new route connecting Chengdu to Madrid, set to launch on April 27, 2025. The airline will operate four flights per week using Airbus A350-900 aircraft, making it the sole carrier on this route.
With Madrid joining Sichuan Airlines’ European network, Spain has become the latest market for the Chinese airline. The capital city follows Istanbul, Rome, and St. Petersburg as part of the carrier’s growing footprint in the region. Other European destinations, such as Frankfurt and Helsinki, have traditionally been served by Sichuan Airlines’ cargo operations using Airbus A330-300(P2F) freighters.
The new Chengdu-Madrid flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, following this schedule:
- 3U 3803 – Chengdu Tianfu (TFU) 01:40 → Madrid (MAD) 08:50
- 3U 3804 – Madrid (MAD) 11:05 → Chengdu Tianfu (TFU) 05:00+1
This addition strengthens air connectivity between China and Spain, providing more travel options for both leisure and business travelers. The service will also support trade and tourism between the two countries, as Madrid continues to be a key gateway for Chinese travelers exploring Europe.
