American Airlines Flight Catches Fire at Denver International Airport

An American Airlines flight caught fire upon landing at Denver International Airport on Thursday evening, forcing passengers to evacuate onto the plane’s wing as smoke billowed from the aircraft.

American Airlines Flight 1006 departed from Colorado Springs and was en route to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport when it was diverted to Denver due to an unspecified issue, a spokesperson for the airline confirmed to Fox News Digital.

The aircraft had safely landed and was taxiing to the gate when it “experienced an engine-related issue” that resulted in a fire around 6 p.m. local time. Emergency crews quickly responded, and the blaze was extinguished without any reported injuries.

Images and videos from the scene showed passengers evacuating onto the wing of the aircraft as smoke poured from the plane. Authorities have not disclosed the number of passengers on board or the specific cause of the fire.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are expected to investigate the incident. American Airlines has not yet provided further details but assured that passenger safety remains its top priority.

More updates will follow as authorities continue their investigation.
