Spain Greenlights €100M Caribbean-Style Resort Near Seville – Lagoon City

A spectacular new luxury resort designed to rival the Caribbean’s finest is coming to Spain. The €100 million Lagoon City project, approved by Bormujos Town Hall, will bring a sprawling 1.49-hectare lagoon, white sand beaches, and world-class leisure facilities to the outskirts of Seville.

Backed by Crystal Lagoons, a global leader in water innovation, and Romanian investment firm Forty Management, the ambitious development aims to redefine tourism in the region. The first phase of the project is already in motion, focusing on acquiring 120,000m² of land for the resort’s construction.

A Tropical Oasis in Spain

Located just four miles from Seville, Lagoon City will offer visitors an unparalleled beachside escape. Key highlights of the resort include:

  • A five-star, 200-room luxury hotel
  • Three apart-hotel towers catering to long- and short-term guests
  • A state-of-the-art event center for conferences and celebrations
  • An international dining hub featuring top-tier restaurants and a sky bar with panoramic views
  • A lively promenade lined with leisure and entertainment venues
  • A crystal-clear lagoon for swimming, water sports, and beachside relaxation

Designed as a public-access attraction, Lagoon City will blend exclusivity with accessibility, offering both locals and tourists a premier vacation destination without leaving Spain.

Economic & Environmental Impact

With over 600 jobs expected to be created, the project is set to deliver a significant economic boost to the region. However, full-scale construction hinges on securing additional permits within 18 months.

Beyond economic benefits, Lagoon City is part of a broader eco-friendly urban transformation trend across Europe. Crystal Lagoons has spearheaded similar projects in Romania, Hungary, Poland, Italy, France, and the Czech Republic, aiming to repurpose underutilized spaces into sustainable tourism hubs.

One of the project’s major environmental advantages is its potential to reduce tourism-related carbon emissions. By offering an exotic beach experience within Spain, Lagoon City could cut down on long-haul flights to tropical destinations, allowing travelers to enjoy turquoise waters and white sandy shores without leaving the continent.
