Katowice Airport Reports Record-Breaking Passenger Traffic in February 2025

The Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL SA), which manages Wojciech Korfanty International Airport in Katowice, has reported its highest-ever February passenger traffic. In February 2025, the airport served 355,568 passengers, marking a 17% increase (+51,708 passengers) compared to the same period last year.

This surpasses the previous February record of 303,860 passengers, set in 2024. The growth trend continues as the airport expects to handle its fastest one-millionth passenger of a calendar year by the end of March.

Growth in Regular and Charter Flights

  • Regular flights (operated by Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT, and Air Dolomiti): 214,329 passengers, up 5.2% from February 2024.
  • Charter flights (operated by travel agencies): 138,067 passengers, a significant 39% increase.
  • Aircraft movements: 2,758 take-offs and landings, up 6.6% from last year.

From January to February 2025, Katowice Airport handled 713,291 passengers, a 16.7% increase compared to 2024.

Forecast for 2025

  • The airport expects to serve a record 7 million passengers by the end of 2025.
  • Katowice Airport remains Poland’s leading airport in charter traffic and one of the country’s largest cargo hubs.
  • The total number of flights (take-offs and landings) reached 5,763 in the first two months of 2025, up 9.15% from last year.

“Passenger traffic is growing as forecasted. We anticipate reaching one million passengers by the end of March—our fastest ever. By year’s end, we aim for a record-breaking seven million passengers,” said Artur Tomasik, President of GTL SA.

With steady growth, Katowice Airport is set to further solidify its position as one of Poland’s key aviation hubs.
