Ahead of the launch, Minister of Public Works Bishop Juan Edghill met with a KLM delegation to discuss logistics and operational preparations. The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters, included KLM’s Regional Manager Dirk Buitelaar, Country Sales Manager for Suriname and Guyana Nalini Kanhai, and Sales Manager for Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao Danilo De Freytas.
Discussions covered regulatory requirements, infrastructure, and marketing strategies to ensure smooth operations. Minister Edghill welcomed KLM’s entry into the Guyanese market, highlighting the benefits of increased tourism, trade, and economic growth. He emphasized that the airline’s presence would strengthen Guyana’s international connectivity and provide more travel options for passengers.
KLM will operate through Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), offering travelers access to its extensive global network, including key destinations in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
This expansion comes as Guyana continues to attract international carriers, with recent additions of flights to Houston, St. Lucia, London, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, and Colombia, further enhancing the country’s connectivity.
