In its second year as the Official Hotel Partner of the Guinness Men’s and Women’s Six Nations, IHG Hotels & Resorts ignited excitement on Saturday ahead of the Round 3 matches with three unforgettable pre-game experiences.
Prior to the England v. Scotland match in Twickenham, rugby fans and guests at the Holiday Inn London – Brentford Lock were treated to a surprise performance of the English and Scottish national anthems. Singer, songwriter, and actress Pixie Lott, along with Scottish singer and songwriter Tom Walker, delivered stirring renditions to energize fans before the game.
Elsewhere in the UK, ahead of the game in Cardiff, choirs from Wales and Ireland gathered at voco St. David’s hotel to rally support for their home nations. Performing national anthems in the hotel lobby, the choirs created an electrifying atmosphere for guests heading to the match.
The surprise performances were inspired by research commissioned by IHG Hotels & Resorts, emphasizing the significance of pre-match rituals. Findings revealed that 75% of rugby fans consider national anthems the most important pre-game tradition, uniting supporters despite their team allegiances.
Later that evening, IHG Hotels & Resorts hosted a star-studded event at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham. Celebrity guests included rugby star Ilona Maher, television presenter and comedian Joel Dommett, actress and singer Billie Piper, actress and television personality Emily Atack, YouTuber and entrepreneur Jim Chapman, and former Women’s rugby union player Jodie Ounsley.
With these initiatives, IHG Hotels & Resorts continues to enhance the Six Nations experience, strengthening the connection between rugby fans and their favorite tournament.
