Ottawa has solidified its status as a premier conference destination with the inauguration of the O-Train Line 4, a direct Light Rail Transit (LRT) connection linking Macdonald-Cartier International Airport to the city’s downtown core.
This vital expansion, part of Ottawa’s ambitious Stage 2 LRT project, enhances accessibility for conference delegates and event organizers by offering a seamless, sustainable transit option. Officially launched on January 6, 2025, the 4-kilometer Airport Link connects the airport to South Keys Station, where passengers can transfer to Line 2 (Trillium Line) for a quick and convenient ride downtown in under 30 minutes.
With Airport Station integrated directly into the terminal’s departures level, visitors can now transition smoothly from air travel to public transit without the need for taxis or rental cars.
For event planners utilizing venues such as the Shaw Centre and other downtown facilities, this extension ensures a reliable and efficient way for attendees to navigate the city.
Lesley Pincombe, Vice-President of Meetings and Major Events at Ottawa Tourism highlighted the impact of the new service, stating:
“The O-Train extension guarantees that delegates experience Ottawa’s efficiency and hospitality from the moment they land.”
This latest infrastructure improvement underscores Ottawa’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility while reinforcing its reputation as a top-tier conference and business event destination.
