Turkish Airlines is advancing its planned launch of direct flights between Sydney and Istanbul, now set to begin on November 28, a week earlier than initially announced. The first two return flights will utilize an older Boeing 777 with a 2-2-2 business class configuration before switching to the more modern Airbus A350, which offers a 1-2-1 business class layout with lie-flat seats.
The inaugural flight from Istanbul will depart on Thursday, November 28, arriving in Sydney on the afternoon of Friday, November 29, before returning to Istanbul that same evening. Another Boeing 777 flight will operate on November 30 and December 1, with the Airbus A350 taking over on December 3 out of Istanbul and December 4 from Sydney.
Initially, the flights will operate four times a week—on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from Sydney, and on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from Istanbul. However, beginning June 10, 2025, Turkish Airlines will add a fifth weekly flight, increasing service to meet rising demand and offering a competitive alternative for travelers heading to Europe and beyond.
The flight schedule is as follows:
- TK175 departs Sydney at 8:40 pm every Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, landing in Istanbul at 10:15 am the next day.
- TK174 leaves Istanbul at 3:15 pm every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, arriving in Sydney at 6:30 pm the following day.
From June 2025, flights will be added on Wednesdays from Sydney and Tuesdays from Istanbul, broadening Turkish Airlines’ extensive network, which connects travelers from Istanbul to over 100 destinations across Europe.
